The Acadia Sessions is a weekly television show that features some of New England’s most talented bands and musicians working in an acclaimed Maine recording studio.
The modern music scene has become a globalized phenomenon, but musical groups continue to be formed from communities – and that comes from a geographical area. Now more than ever, there is a need to return to the local. What is happening right now in the New England music scene? What are the thoughts and dreams and challenges of bands based in our communities? What are their lives as working musicians really like? Who are the emerging talents? The Acadia Sessions is capturing the zeitgeist of the New England music scene – letting viewers understand the rich diversity of musicians we have in our midst.
Each 30-minute episode documents and explores the interactions of the artists, giving the audience a “behind-the-scenes” look at the relationships between individuals, their songs, their backgrounds, and the song writing process. Via footage of song performances, rehearsals, interviews and candid interactions, presented in a cinéma vérité style, The Acadia Sessions provides a realistic look at what it means to be a working musician in the 21st century. For the first year of broadcast, The Acadia Sessions will focus on New England performers working in diverse genres, from classical music to modern rock. Since the focus of The Acadia Sessions is on musicianship and the creative process, the show will be interesting and accessible to a wide audience of differing musical taste.
